April 10, 2019An introduction to the program, the podcast, and the work ahead
My father was a high school math teacher. He could read a lab report the way most of us read a menu. He knew exactly what his numbers meant, what the research said about his diabetes and high blood pressure, and what he was supposed to do about it. Still, knowing never quite became doing. He passed away in 2022 from an untreatable cardiac condition, and I have spent every year since thinking about closing the gap between knowing what to do and doing it.
I’m a physician. I trained as a surgeon, then completed fellowship training in integrative and studied both sports medicine and lifestyle medicine. Over the years I noticed the same pattern in my patients that I saw in my dad. The problem is almost never a lack of information; in fact, we are drowning in it. The problem is drift, the slow, quiet slide of a thousand small daily choices that pulls us away from the health we want to have. Nobody decides to drift. It just happens while we’re busy living our lives.
On the Path Health exists to close that gap. Our mission is twofold.
First, we bring you the best of current health and lifestyle science, translated into actionable language. Second, and more importantly, we train you to turn that knowledge into lifelong habits across the five pillars that matter most: exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management, and human connection. Done consistently, these habits are the most powerful tools we have to extend both healthspan, the years you live well, and lifespan.
The heart of it all is our ten-week, physician-led program. It isn’t a lecture series, and it isn’t a 7-day cleanse you complete and forget about next Monday. Week by week, you practice small, specific changes in each pillar until they stop feeling like effort and start feeling like a new and better you. Early participants in our pilot program a few years ago, and now in our digital beta cohort, have shown us just how powerful practice can be when knowledge and habit building merge and feed off of one another. Our “Founders” cohort On the Path Health program will launch on November 2nd, 2026 – learn more at onthepathhealth.com
Around that program, we’re building a steady rhythm of free resources. Each week in our newsletter, you’ll get a feature article that takes one meaningful health question and walks it from the research to your kitchen, your calendar, or your evening routine. And soon we’ll launch our weekly podcast, a 25-to-30-minute show where we examine what’s new and what’s true in health, always with the same test: by the end, you should know what to try, skip, or ask your doctor about.
One thing you won’t find here is deprivation. This isn’t about subtracting joy from your life. It’s about adding life, with more energy for the work you do, and more good years with the people you love. A handful of daily habits, practiced faithfully, can mean real, additional quality time with the people who matter most. That’s the whole reason we do this.
Health span isn’t hacked. It’s practiced. We’re glad you’re here, and we hope you’ll walk this path with us.
Welcome to On the Path Health.
